Natural stones such as marbles, granites, travertines, slates, quartz, etc. they are products of nature, therefore the presence of veins, variations of color and tone are characteristic of the material.
Travertine is a sedimentary rock formed in a long geological process and is composed of several elements, the main is calcium carbonate.
This type of rocks present in nature have originated millions of years ago, travertine is formed in freshwater areas, usually in riverbeds. The travertine exporting countries are: Turkey, Italy and Spain. Our travertines are mostly imported from Turkey, we also have Italian travertines and other stones of Spanish and Egyptian origin.

* The four corners of the tile should be cut at 90 degrees.
* The back face should not have large gaps, a solid piece should be as much as possible.
* The thickness of the paver should be measured in inches.
* The shipping boxes must be strong wooden pallets suitable for forklifts.
The range of colors of the travertine goes from the ivory / beige light, to the dark gray color, but always staying in colors contributed by the nature. The color of the travertine is originated by the formation and the geological process that the stone has had as such. Minerals such as iron present in the rock, for example, form veins in reddish colorations. The natural tones of the travertine range from soft ivory and pale white to the rich golden tones of walnut and rustic reds and deep coffee tones. The travertine only takes a process of cutting and finishing but does not have any process of coloration, reason why we recommend to consider this property when designing a space with any natural stone, each piece is unique and unrepeatable but always stays in the same palette / range of colors. The colors of each tile will vary with the mottled and veins or bands of contrasting colors throughout the stone. Each stone has a unique character and style, although the stones extracted from the same area will have enough general similarity to create a beautiful floor. Each tile is uniquely designed by nature with striking patterns, cracks and distinctive veins.
Nature gives us Leonardo, a clear ivory colored stone with a mixture of golden, brown-red and gray tones with blue tones. The way in which the paver is installed depends on the measure or pattern that the client has purchased. There are many ways to install a paver, for example, a paver 12×24 (Herringbone, brick pattern, diagonal basket, among others). The percentage of waste of approximate installation for each project is 10% and for installation of some pattern or special form is 15%. Stone Miami does not perform installation work.
Travertine is a natural material and, as such, you must take certain precautions when cleaning it. La Piedra se refiere a cualquier material de origen natural, se extrae de: canteras y explotaciones mineras. Las piedras naturales como los mármoles, granitos, travertinos, pizarras, cuarzos, etc. son productos de la naturaleza, por lo tanto la presencia de vetas, variaciones de color y tono son características propias del material.
El travertino es una roca sedimentaria formada en un largo proceso geologico y está compuesta por varios elementos, de los que el principal es el carbonato cálcico.
Este tipo de rocas presentes en la naturaleza se han originado hace millones de años, el travertino se forma en áreas de agua dulce, generalmente en los cauces de los ríos. Entre los principales paises exportadores de travertino son: Turquia, Italia y Espana. Nuestros travertinos en su gran mayoria son importados de Turquia, tambien tenemos travertinos Italianos y otras piedras de origen espanol y egipcio.
El paver es cualquier piedra cortada a 1 1/4″ o mas de espesor: 1 1/4″ y 2″. El paver de travertino, esta disenado principalmente para ser instalado sobre superficies flexibles como arena pero en algunos casos, si es necesario, puede instalarse sobre superficies rigidas tambien como un tile. Su espesor es de 1 1/4″ hasta 2″ por lo que es apto para soportar cargas sobre superficies flexibles.
Las propiedades del travertino son:
* El peso del paver es aproximadamente: 16 lb/sqf.
*El largo proceso geológico lo hace una roca muy compacta, fuerte y resistente.
*A consecuencia de los procesos quimicos que ocurren naturalmente en la piedra, se forman las cavidades huecas que lo caracterizan. Estas cavidades ayudan a que sea un revestimiento anti resbaladizo y permite que el agua drene naturalmente en areas de grandes extensiones.
* El travertino es resistente a bajas temperaturas y altas temperaturas, por lo tanto, es un revestimiento ideal para exteriores, porque mantiene una temperatura agradable aun estando expuesto en verano e invierno. * Una de las propiedades del travertino, asi como de cualquier piedra natural, es que cada pieza es unica e irrepetible. El color tiene variacion pero siempre se mantiene en la misma paleta/gama de colores. ¿Qué criterios indican la calidad del paver de travertino?
*Las cuatro esquinas de la baldosa deben cortarse a 90 grados.
*La cara posterior no debe tener huecos grandes, debe ser en lo maximo posible una pieza solida.
*El grosor del paver debe medirse en pulgadas.
*Las cajas de envío deben ser fuertes paletas de madera adecuadas para carretillas elevadoras.
La gama de colores del travertino va desde el ivory/beige light, hasta el color gris oscuro, pero siempre manteniendose en colores aportados por la naturaleza. El color del travertino es originado por la formacion y el proceso geologico que ha tenido la piedra como tal. Minerales como el hierro presentes en la roca, por ejemplo, forman vetas en coloraciones rojizas. Los tonos naturales del travertino van desde el suave marfil y el blanco pálido hasta los ricos tonos dorados de nogal y rojos rústicos y profundos tonos café. Tambien la forma o tecnica de cortar el bloque de piedra, dan como resultado dos piedras aparentemente distintas: el travertino comun que conocemos “nube” y el travertine “veincut”, que posee venas a lo largo de la piedra. El travertino solo lleva un proceso de corte y acabado pero no tiene ningun proceso de coloracion, por lo que recomendamos considerar esta propiedad al disenar un espacio con cualquier piedra natural, cada pieza es unica e irrepetible pero siempre se mantiene en la misma paleta/gama de colores. Los colores de cada baldosa variarán con el moteado y las venas o bandas de colores contrastantes en toda la piedra. Cada piedra tiene un carácter y estilo únicos, aunque las piedras extraídas de la misma área tendrán suficiente similitud general para crear un hermoso piso. Cada baldosa está diseñada de forma única por la naturaleza con patrones llamativos, grietas y vetas distintivas.
La naturaleza nos regala con Leonardo, una piedra de fondo color ivory claro con una mezcla de tonos dorados, marrones-rojos y grises con tonos azul. Toda esta gama de colores se puede apreciar en algunas piezas, que tendrán más transiciones de color, mientras que otras tendrán un aspecto de color más sólido. Leonardo tiene una mezcla limpia y consistente de diferenciación de colores, siendo asi, una piedra muy versatil para revestir cualquier area, se puede combinar con cualquier color en un diseno.
El paver esta disenado para ser instalado sobre una cama de arena previamente compactada y/o puede ser instalado sobre pavimento rigido como concreto, como un tile comun, en casos que se hace necesario por las diferentes superficies que se tienen en un ambiente o un area. La forma en que se instala el paver, depende de la medida o patron que el cliente haya comprado. Existen muchas maneras de instalar un paver, por ejemplo, un paver 12×24 (Herringbone, brick pattern, diagonal basket, entre otras). El porcentaje de desperdicio de instalacion aproximado para cada proyecto es de 10% y para instalacion de algun patron o forma en especial es 15%. Stone Miami no realiza trabajos de instalacion.
Una vez instalado, la piedra debe ser limpiada y preparada para ser sellada. Una recomendacion muy importante es que, para mantener la piedra natural en buen estado, hay que hacer uso de un sellador. El sellador es un producto que evita el manchado y desgaste de la piedra natural. Lo consideramos necesario en el mantenimiento del travertino. En el mercado existen dos tipos de selladores para la piedra natural: El sellador 1)con resaltador: acentua los colores, variaciones y venas del travertino, oscurece un poco la piedra y le aporta un poco de brillo. 2)sin resaltador, no cambia el color/aspecto de la piedra. La eleccion es directamente del cliente, segun su gusto. La eleccion de cualquiera de ellos es determinante en el look de la piedra, porque cambiara el aspecto de la piedra natural según se le aplique uno u otro tratamiento.
El travertino es un material natural y, como tal, hay que tener ciertas precauciones a la hora de limpiarlo. También es necesario evitar hacer algunas cosas que pueden dañarlo, no es un tipo de pavimento que requiera un mantenimiento complejo. También hay que tener cuidado con los líquidos que se derraman sobre el travertino, conviene limpiar cuanto antes si se ha derramado por ejemplo, vino tinto para evitar que las manchas penetren.
Como regla general, no recomendamos utilizar detergentes demasiado fuertes ni productos abrasivos para limpiarlos porque se podria dañar el travertino de forma irreparable. Tampoco se debe usar amoniaco ni productos ácidos como el vinagre, ya que podrían decolorarlo. ¿Lo mejor para limpiarlo? Agua con jabón y en caso de pavers agua a presion.
